The Gennargentu national park borders the Golf di Orosei and includes some of the most rugged landscapes on the island.You can get an impression of its scale on the dramatic drive from Cala Gonone to Baunei. The whole Gennargentu park is a popular area for trekking and on the coast dramatic cliff climbing. Further to the east lie the towns of the Barbagia including Mamoiada (famous "Festa di Sant'Antonio" in January) and Fonni (Sardinia's highest town and only ski resort!).
