Remote Beaches & Verdant Countryside

South of Oristano lies the Costa Verde, a verdant area with coastlines which are a little more remote than most of the Sardinian main resorts and have therefore remained un-spoilt and are relatively less busy. It is a pleasant drive across from San Nicolo d’Arcidano (just off the SS131) you will notice the change in countryside as fields become greener. You can follow this road and take spurs off to various beaches in the north of the Costa Verde, “Torre dei Corsari” is the largest “resort” in this area with beach areas, holiday apartments some restaurants and supermarkets. You can then follow the coast road south through “Porto Palma” (don’t expect anything grand just a mooring point)along the Costa Verde.

Funtanazza, Marina di Arbus & Portu Maga.

Further on is “Funtanazza” which despite the dominating influence of a disused holiday hostel has a nice beach area down from the cliffs. Continuing south, with beautiful coastal views, you will reach “Marina di Arbus” with a tourist complex set back from the beach and “Portu Maga” before the tarmac road reaches its end. The more remote and arguably most beautiful part of the Costa Verde is south of here with “Spiaggia Piscinas” and “Spiaggia Scrivu”, and over 10km of long sandy, generally quiet, beaches.
