Cagliari is a thriving and busy city. Within easy reach of “Elmas” Airport. It has a long history (founded by the Phoenicians in the 6th century BC), many well-preserved historic buildings and a cosmopolitan feel. Cagliari is also easily accessible for the main attractions and beaches of the south of the island. The portal area along which “Via Roma” stretches is busy and vibrant with bars and cafes located along its length. The most important Festa in Sardinia, held here on 1st May, is the “Festa di Sant’ Efisio”. It is an extremely colourful event, which involves participants from throughout Sardinia parading in local costume as they accompany the statue of their patron saint.

Nearby is the pleasant “Orto Botanico” garden founded in 1865 with tropical plants from throughout the world and now under the tutelage of the university.. For beach lovers head off to the lovely “Poetto” beach which is a few kilometres out of the town. Alternatively drive either east or west and enjoy one of the many white sandy beaches and translucent waters that Sardinia has to offer.
