Ancient Settlement & Burial Grounds.

You can purchase a joint ticket to visit these ancient sites, both near Alghero. Nuraghe di Palmavera is located adjacent to the road north from Alghero towards Porto Conte. It has a main central defensive tower and a surrounding settlement although for these only the bases of the walls remain. The central tower dates from c.1500BC. The (pre-Nuraghic) Necropoli di Anghelu Ruju is located near to the exit from the airport and consists of over 30 burial chambers. Apparently the area was used as a burial site for c.600 years from 3300BC.
