Porto Cervo is the centre point of the “Costa Smeralda” which was created by a consortium including the Aga Khan in the late 1960’s to offer the rich and famous a tranquil and beautiful tourist area in the north east of Sardinia. Its focus as you would expect is the two port areas with luxury yachts, fine dining and exclusive shops. If you have the money, moor your yacht and enjoy the surroundings, if you don’t look on with envy. Interesting mix of architecture, combining a respect for tradition and the natural surroundings, with more contemporary features; a good example is the “Chiesa di Stella Maris”. From the piazza outside you have a great view of the larger port area.
