The Gulf of Asinara is located between Porto Torres and Castelsardo and is a wide bay with an unbroken 13km stretch of sandy beach, if you fly into Alghero you may well see it as you descend. Platamona is a lively resort with bars and restaurants. If you take the coastal road (littorale); SP 81 towards Marina di Sorso there are a number of roads down to the beach through the pineta. These have parking areas (chargeable in high season) and usually a bar and/or restaurant snack bar. Further along there is an aquapark, in the area of Marritza. As you continue towards Castelsardo the coast becomes rocky. More secluded, if less easily accessible, bathing points can be found here.
