| Carloforte Port | La Punta | La Bobba |
Relatively uninhabited until the late 18th century Isola di San Pietro is a beautiful island with dramatic coastline and beaches, reached by ferry from the adjoining “Isola Sant’Antioco” or “Portovesme” on the mainland. The ferries arrive at “Carloforte” which has an attractive portal area and is the only major town on the island. North of the town is “La Punta”, a slightly eerie spot, which in late spring is the centre for a major tuna catch (presumably to satisfy the Japanese market with “toro” for sashimi). West is “Cala Fico” (beach) and the most westerly point on the island; “Capo Sandalo”.

| San Pietro La Caletta | Golfo di Mezzaluna | Punta delle Colonne | View of La Bobba |
Heading south on Isola di San Pietro you can take a pleasant drive along the dramatic coastline and see (amongst others) “La Caletta” which has a sandy beach and rocky coves with beautiful clear water. “Golfo della Mezzaluna” is a high point which affords great views from between the second world war gun placements and “Punta delle Colonne” has two dramatic rock columns that rise from the water beneath the cliffs. On the way back towards Carloforte is “La Bobba” another very attractive beach.
